Pros And Cons Of Heat Exchangers

Currently, many companies are manufacturing heat exchangers. These units are special devices, inside which heat exchange takes place between two or more heat carriers. In addition, in some cases, heat exchange can be carried out using the surface of a solid and a heat carrier.

Technical advantages of heat exchangers

First of all, it should be noted such an important advantage as ease of maintenance. In cases where this unit becomes clogged, it is necessary to disassemble the device and rinse it thoroughly.

The second advantage is associated with the fact that when choosing a reliable microchannel heat exchanger manufacturer, a low level of contamination of the heat exchange surface can be observed. This is achieved due to the high turbulence of the fluid flow. In addition, this factor is also influenced by the fact that the heat transfer plates have a high-quality polish.

The advantages of heat exchangers include:

  • Reduction of the area occupied by heat exchange equipment
  • Low subcooling value
  • Self-cleaning
  • High efficiency of the heat exchanger
  • Low-pressure loss
  • Reduced energy consumption for electric pumps
  • Low labor costs for equipment repair
  • Short terms of equipment repair

Possible disadvantages

Despite the many advantages of the new technology, microchannel heat exchangers have some disadvantages. Firstly, given the dense arrangement of the fins, there is a possibility of faster fouling of the heat exchangers. Secondly, the thickness of the ribs is very small, so it is easier to jam and damage them, therefore, cleaning requires much more care from the service crews.

Another feature of microchannel heat exchangers, which is not a disadvantage in the literal sense, nevertheless negatively affects their use in refrigeration technology. The fact is that such heat exchangers cannot be counted among counter-flow devices, which, as you know, are most effective as evaporators and condensers.
